New Local Art Series by Tara Zanzig Up Through 7/17

March 15, 2017

Our March 14 ‘Whiskey and Art’ event featured the unveiling of a new series by Tara Zanzig, Chicago based artist working in mixed media: primarily painting and screen printing.

She received her BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and spent a decade printing t-shirts. Currently, Tara studies humanity through art and teaches screen printing classes and lessons at Spudnik Press Cooperative.

For this edition of ‘Whiskey & Art,’ Tara created a series called:

Maybe It’s The Beer Talkin: A Portrait Series of Chicago Brewers
“Over the past five years or so, I’ve witnessed a number of home brewers turn professional. Maybe you have too. Some have even converted their DIY operations to legit breweries. No small feat.

The folks I’ve met that make beer here are some of the best — genuine and generous. The fabric of this industry is complex and woven tight. They celebrate the success of one another and help each other out. The very character of Chicago’s beer industry is an attribute to its greatness and has resulted in outstanding growth and continued opportunity for many.

Adrian Vidaurre, head brewer at DryHop, is one of these individuals and when he asked if I’d be interested in showing there I was honored to oblige. What a perfect time to get to know people behind our delicious beer a little bit better and commemorate their work through another timeless tradition — portraiture.

Here’s to you, Chicago brewers.” – Tara Zanzig
